Phoenix Park Shuttle Bus
In 2008 the Phoenix Park Shuttle Bus was launched to provide an alternative method of travelling around the Park, other than by car. The shuttle bus operates on a circular loop around the Park. The bus starts and terminates at Parkgate St. and operates on a hop on- hop off basis at the various stops around the Park. The service operates every 60 minutes, on the hour every hour, between 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m.-7 p.m., on weekends and bank holidays.
The Phoenix Park Shuttle bus service is regarded as a key factor in facilitating much greater public access to the Park and at the same time helping reduce dependence on cars to get there. In terms therefore of access to, and mobility within the Park, the priority is to move towards a sustainable approach and the Park Shuttle Bus service, represents significant progress in this regard.
The bus operates 7 days a week on a circular route around the Park, starting and finishing at Parkgate Street, close to Heuston Station and the LUAS. It takes in all the main features of the Park including Dublin Zoo, the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre, the Papal Cross, Farmleigh, St. Mary's Hospital, etc. and therefore caters for both visitors and staff working within the Park. In the interests of protecting the Park environment, an important feature of the new service is that low emission LPG powered buses are being utilised. The buses also facilitate wheelchair access and provide storage for childrens’ buggies.
On-board commentary is provided as the bus travels around the Park giving the public an interesting & enjoyable commentary on the Park's history and wildlife.
The route which the Phoenix Park shuttle bus operates on is:
Parkgate Street (Heuston/LUAS Stop) → Dublin Zoo & Garda HQ → Ratra House → Ashtown Gate→ Farmleigh →Ordnance Survey → Cheshire Home, Chapelizod → St. Mary's Hospital →Papal Cross → Visitor Centre → Dublin Zoo → Parkgate Street (Heuston/LUAS Stop).
Tickets are valid all day and prices range from Adults €2, Family €5 and €1 for children.
