Mr. Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran T.D., Minister of State for the Office of Public Works (OPW) and Flood Relief today congratulated the Phoenix Park on its award for Ireland’s Favourite Local Attraction in the Irish Independent 2019 Reader Travel Awards.

The OPW were excited to have three of its Heritage Sites short listed for an Award in the following selected categories for 2019:

  • The Phoenix Park – Winner of ‘Ireland’s Favourite Local Attraction’
  • Kilkenny Castle – Nominated in ‘Ireland’s Favourite Local Attraction’
  • Newgrange – Nominated in ‘Ireland’s Favourite Visitor Attraction’

Minister Moran stated “I’m delighted with the news of this Award for The Phoenix Park and to acknowledge the nominations for Kilkenny Castle and Newgrange. These nominations are a welcome recognition of the professionalism and dedication of the OPW staff involved and their pursuit of excellence in showcasing all our Heritage Sites.

These Awards are presented within the Travel sector in recognition of the quality of services experienced by the general public at locations across the country. The Reader Travel Awards comprise of 16 categories, such as Ireland favourite Hotel, favourite Airline, and favourite Visitor Attraction to name a few.
