Road and Gate Closures

The following are details of any current and future scheduled road and gate closures in the Phoenix Park.


Bike Disco – Friday 20th September 2024

Roads to be closed to vehicular traffic:

Survey Road                                       Friday      7.15pm – 9.30pm

Chesterfield Avenue (Phoenix to Mountjoy Roundabouts)    7.00pm – 10.00pm

Furze Road                                         Friday      4.00pm – 10.00pm

Upper Glen Road                                 Friday     4.00pm – 9.30pm

(The Odd Lamp Road will be open for the duration of the event).

Gates to be closed to vehicular traffic:

Castleknock Gate                                    Friday       7.15pm – 9.30pm

Knockmaroon Gate                                  Friday       7.15pm – 9.30pm

Ashtown Gate – No Right Turn on Entry  Friday       7.15pm – 9.30pm

All roads and gates will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so.

Irish Life Half Marathon – Sunday 22nd September 2024

Roads to be closed to vehicular traffic:

Chesterfield Avenue (Phoenix to Mountjoy Roundabout) will be Closed from 9.00pm on Saturday 21st September until 2.00pm on Sunday 22nd September

Ordnance Survey Road              Sunday        8.00am – 2.00pm (access to Farmleigh House only from 12.00pm)

Military Road                              Sunday        8.00am – 11.30am

Upper Glen Road                       Sunday        8.00am – 2.00pm

Acres Road                                Sunday        7.00am – 2.00pm

Wellington Road                        Closed from 10.00pm on Saturday 21st September until 11.30am on Sunday 22nd September

Gates to be closed:

Castleknock Gate                      Sunday        8.00am – 12.00pm

Chapelizod Gate                        Closed from 11.00pm on Saturday 21st September until 11.30am on Sunday 22nd September

Islandbridge Gate                      Closed from 11.00pm on Saturday 21st September until 11.30am on Sunday 22nd September

Knockmaroon Gate                    Closed from 11.00pm on Saturday 21st September until 2.00pm on Sunday 22nd September

Access to St. Mary’s Hospital and Cara Cheshire Home will be unaffected via Chapelizod Gate.

All roads and gates will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so.

Roads to be closed to vehicular traffic:

Chesterfield Avenue (Phoenix Roundabout to Mountjoy Roundabout)    From 10.00pm on Friday 4th October until 12.00pm on Saturday 5th October

Survey Road                                                Saturday 7.00am to 11.30am

Glen and Upper Glen Road                         Saturday 7.00am to 11.30am

Furry Glen                                                    Saturday 7.00am to 11.30am

Gates to be closed:

Castleknock Gate                                         Saturday 8.00am – 10.30am

Ashtown Gate        No Right Turn on Entry     Saturday 8.15am – 11.30am (Except for access to Farmleigh House)

Knockmaroon Gate will be closed from 11.00pm on Friday 4th October until 11.30am on Saturday 5th October

Parking only permitted in areas agreed with Organisers.

All roads and gates will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so.

Survey Road to Upper Glen Road    Wednesday         11.30am – 3.00pm

Access to Farmleigh House and OSi will be maintained at all times.

Gates to be closed: 

Knockmaroon Gate                       Wednesday         11.30am – 3.00pm

Traffic will be halted or diverted at the following locations:

Chapelizod Gate – Right Turn Only, except for access to Cara Cheshire Home. 

All roads and gates will re-open as soon as safe to do so.

From 10am Monday 28th February 2022, the North Road will commence a one-way system, in the City direction only, for the duration of a 9-month pilot study.
